Leading Alexander Benefits Consulting, Mike has enjoyed working with the company for over 30 years. With over 38 years of health and welfare experience, Mike has been involved with the HBA Trust since its inception and is keenly aware of the challenges faced by healthcare entities both large and small across the country. Mike takes pride in addressing these challenges and creating unique solutions for clients. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in English and Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder and prides himself on being a Colorado native. In his free time, Mike enjoys fishing, biking, traveling, attending concerts at Red Rocks, and spending time with family in the beautiful Colorado outdoors.

With a background in Human Resources, Jessica has been an integral part of the team for the past three years, working alongside Mike to service hospital and university clients. She earned her Bachelor of Science in IO Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and went on to complete her Master’s in HR and Industrial Relations at the same university. Before joining Alexander Benefits Consulting, Jessica spent four years at Land O’Lakes, Inc., where she worked closely with HR and Legal teams to oversee manufacturing union benefits and contracts on both the east and west coasts. She brings an HR perspective to the team and prides herself on building relationships with clients of all sizes. Jessica continues to grow in her roles and responsibilities and is excited about the future of Alexander and the niche industry it operates in.

Mackenzie joined the Alexander Benefits Consulting team two years ago, after graduating from Western Colorado University. She received her Bachelor of Arts with a degree in Business Administration and Communication Arts. She has a strong background in administrative support, organizational management, and strategic planning. She manages the administrative and operational duties while providing support to her colleagues and various hospital and university clients at Alexander Benefits Consulting. Prior to Alexander Benefits Consulting, Mackenzie spent a year at Pando Telecom, where she worked closely with the Marketing and Business Development teams providing support internally and externally. With a keen eye for detail, she is able to streamline processes for every project, as she is always striving to deliver excellent results. She is committed to contributing to the success of Alexander Benefits Consulting and the niche industry it operates in and is looking forward to the future.

As a consultative sales executive with more than 15 years of experience supporting large corporate and institutional clients, including hospital systems and universities, my clients rely on me for their employee benefits needs related to health and welfare, life, disability, dental, and voluntary benefits insurance. I have educated clients on solutions that reduce their overall costs by 25% on average, saving millions of dollars annually while maintaining or enhancing their current benefits parameters. Over the years, I have created systems and processes to nurture authentic and lasting relationships with my clients and build new inroads with prospects resulting in strong client capture and more than a 90% retention rate. My licenses include Life & Health and Property & Casualty, and I am a Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) and hold the Certification for Long-Term Care (CLTC).

John Hohman is a Managing Director widely recognized for his strategic insights and unwavering commitment to delivering superior employee benefit solution with a keen eye for financial optimization and a dedication to client success. In 1995, John moved from a career in accounting with a Fortune 500 company to a position of Account Executive with Great West Life (acquired by CIGNA), a market leader in self-funded medical plans and 401(k) plans. Since making the move to brokering, John has held sales and leadership roles. John spent 7 years as Managing Director expanding the HBA benefits business in the West and was promoted in 2018 to Regional President managing all business lines for the HBA’s West region. He now applies this expertise in his client consulting. He sits on industry advisory boards for both medical and ancillary insurance carriers. John is a University of Arizona graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accounting/finance. His professional accreditations include the AIF® designation, coupled with licensure in health, securities and property & casualty, demonstrating his commitment to excellence and compliance within the industry.

Tom is responsible for leading HBA’s overall benefit carrier relationship strategy, while also serving as a key member of the Corporate Development group. These roles leverage Tom’s nearly 25 years of experience in the group insurance industry by focusing on driving organic revenue initiatives across all HBA business lines and platforms. Tom believes in achieving mutually beneficial business outcomes by challenging operational norms while strengthening external partnerships, practices he honed when he held operational responsibility for one of HBA’s largest corporate benefits offices. Prior to joining HBA, Tom was director of underwriting at The Hartford, where he was responsible for national account large-case segment management. This included designing and implementing client benefit programs to solve difficult funding and participation challenges. In a career highlight for Tom, he oversaw a block of business in excess of $750 million, comprised of many industry-leading companies. Tom previously held leadership positions at CNA. He is an alumnus of the University of Central Florida.

With over 33 years of experience, Allison specializes in employer retirement plan fiduciary services and public sector pension consulting. Allison works extensively with matters pertaining to ERISA requirements and fiduciary responsibilities of employer sponsored retirement plans. She works directly with retirement plan committee members and the administrative team in providing design guidance, consulting, implementing and managing proactive fiduciary strategies. Allison documents consistent and objective processes for organizations while helping to manage the liabilities of plan fiduciaries. Which in the end, year over year drive best outcome for the plan participants to be retirement ready. Allison is a nationally recognized expert in ERISA issues. Allison graduated from Adelphi University with degrees in accounting and anthropology and earned a Master of Arts at the University of Texas. Napa Net ranks her one of the “Top Women Advisors every year since inception in 2016. Since 2016, Allison has dedicated her time to organizing and hosting Seminars annually to help plans sponsors and fiduciary get continually educated in best prudent oversight and governance of retirement programs. These events include best practices and new legal updates. Helping fiduciary stay current and learn from other fiduciaries ways to improve their own programs and mitigate risk. The workshops are now branded as HBA’s Retirement Plan University (RPU) Allison’s commitment to RPU creates for a resource to stay current on market and regulatory developments. Allison is a member of many advisory boards including nationally known recordkeepers, investment companies, and industry associations.
