Saul Locker, President As Founder and President of Alexander Benefits Consulting, Saul’s foundation for forming long- term partnerships is centered on managing and servicing clients to the highest level of customer satisfaction. Saul has been in the industry for over 30 years. Prior to establishing ABC in 1998, Saul managed the South Central Region of Aon Consulting (formerly Alexander & Alexander Benefits Services) as Executive Vice President for 13 years. During his tenure with Aon, he was also responsible for creating and managing the National Specialty Healthcare Business. In addition, Saul served as the Regional Benefits Manager for Liberty Mutual for 7 years. Saul received his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University and his Masters of Business Administration from Colorado State University. He served as President of the Board of Directors for the Rocky Mountain Region of the Alzheimer’s Association, and served on the Board of Directors of Exempla Healthcare, St. Joseph Hospital Foundation and the Girl Scouts. In his free time, Saul enjoys exercising and is particularly passionate about skiing and golf.
Mike Cole, Senior Vice President Mike is the Senior Vice President of Alexander Benefits Consulting and has enjoyed working with the company for over 23 years. Mike has over 28 years of health and welfare experience. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in English and Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder and prides himself on being a Colorado native. Mike specializes in and enjoys the opportunity to partner with clients in managing various Employee Benefit Programs. The Benefits marketplace is a rapidly evolving challenge for clients and Mike finds great satisfaction in assisting them in navigating through the process. In his free time Mike enjoys fishing, biking, skiing and spending time with family in the beautiful Colorado outdoors.
Jill Withers, Account Executive Jill, a Colorado native born and raised in Eastern Colorado, has been servicing clients as an Account Executive with Alexander Benefits Consulting for 15 years. Jill has over 26 years of health and welfare consulting experience and she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Professional Certification in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix. Prior to joining Alexander Benefits Consulting Jill served as Human Resource Manager/Finance and Operations Manager for a local food brokerage firm for 16 years. Jill brought to Alexander Benefits Consulting a strong client perspective and worked with a local insurance brokerage firm designed and implemented comprehensive benefits for its employees. Jill partners with clients of all sizes, developing strategic business plans and renewal retention strategies to help them meet their individual company goals. She helps the customers resolve benefit and Human Resource opportunities, providing them with superior customer service. In her free time Jill likes spending time with her family and friends. She is passionate about golfing and donating time to local charity programs.
Jane Spuler, Marketing Director Jane brings 20 years of experience in employee benefits and healthcare management. Her background includes a variety of roles within health insurance organizations, employee benefits consulting and advertising. Jane has an extensive knowledge base of carrier operations having worked in provider relations, hospital contracting, as well as national and regional account sales and service. Within Alexander Benefits Consulting, she specializes in compliance and regulatory updates, healthcare reform communications, marketing analysis, and website resources for our clients. Jane received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Marketing Management from Virginia Tech. Outside of Alexander Benefits Consulting she is actively involved with the Girl Scouts of Colorado, the Salvation Army and the ski industry.
David Glaser, East Coast Business Development Leader As East Coast Business Development Leader for Alexander Benefits Consulting, David is responsible for introducing and integrating the healthcare sector on the east coast to our Healthcare Benefits Alliance Trust. David brings 30 years of sales and relationship building skills to his role and is committed to the highest levels of integrity and responsiveness. Before joining Alexander Benefits Consulting, David worked as a senior consultant for our affiliate, National Financial Partners Corporate Services in New York City and as New Business Development Director for The Ross Companies. David received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with Marketing minor from The College of New Jersey. He presently serves on the Advisory and Gala Committee for the Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative. David has served on the Board of Trustees of the Tuxedo Park School, the committee for the annual Northern New Jersey American Cancer Society golf outing and the membership committee of the Barnert Temple in Northern New Jersey. David enjoys exercising, golf, skiing and spending time with his family.
Kevin Murphy, Producer/Account Executive Kevin brings over 15 years of health benefits and financial products experience to Alexander Benefits. He began his career as the managing partner of The Landon Group, Inc. in Philadelphia, PA. While at the Landon Group, Kevin specialized in group retirement and pension plans. He moved to Colorado 10 years ago and became an Account Executive for Kaiser Permanente, where he was distinguished with the “subject matter expert” designation for health benefits plan design. Kevin graduated with a B.A. in Social Work with a minor in Finance from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY as well as a project management certificate from Penn State University. Kevin enjoys helping clients figure out the complex nature of health plans. In his free time, Kevin is an avid golfer and loves spending time with his wife and son.
Kim Zirrillo, Senior Vice President, Health and Welfare As Senior Vice President and National Health and Welfare Practice Leader, Kim has over 25 years of experience in the benefits arena. Having served in a variety of roles on both the national and regional level, Kim’s extensive knowledge base has focused on administrative operations, consulting and retention services for a broad range of employee benefit programs. Kim graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in business and has a Master of Science degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Mitch Warren, Assistant Vice President, Health and Welfare Mitch, who has eight years’ experience in insurance and finance, health and welfare Core carrier partnerships and marketing efforts. Previously, he worked at Prudential Financial in corporate finance, sales and account management, most recently as senior relationship manager in Group Insurance. While at Prudential, Mitch was instrumental in developing effective strategies to attract, implement and retain groups. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of San Diego and his Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
Suzanne Spradley, Senior Vice President and Senior Counsel, Legal & Compliance Suzanne oversees the Benefits Compliance Department, which provides consulting services on all aspects of employee benefits compliance. Suzanne and her team continually monitor regulatory and legislative developments to provide compliance updates in the form of white papers, biweekly newsletters, webinars and speaking engagements. Additionally, they design and develop compliance tools to assist employers and plan sponsors with maintaining compliance in an ever-evolving regulatory environment. Suzanne previously worked in the Health Law and Insurance Regulatory sections of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld LLP, a leading international law firm. She attended the Southern Methodist University School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2000. She was awarded a Rising Star designation in the “Super Lawyers” edition of Texas Monthly magazine.
Jill Brooking, Vice President, Benefits Compliance Jill advises on compliance issues related to employee benefits and human resource matters. She has over 15 years of experience in the employee benefits and insurance industry. Jill is familiar with all aspects of insurance, having worked for United Healthcare on the carrier side, the Texas Department of Insurance on the regulatory side and in HR and benefits administration on the employer side.
Jessica J. Watts, GBA, PHR Vice President, Benefits Compliance Jessica’s expertise includes providing compliance and regulatory support for all aspects of employee benefits compliance, including health and welfare and retirement. Jessica is a contributing author of the biweekly Compliance Corner newsletter, and she regularly presents on employee benefits matters, including health care reform. Previously, she administered and performed nondiscrimination testing for qualified retirement plans. Jessica has a Bachelor of Business Administration in financial services and planning from Baylor University, and a Master of Science in human resources management from Tarleton State University. She also served as both president and vice president of Membership in the Westlake Speakers chapter of Toastmaster’s International, where she earned her Competent Communicator and Competent Leader designations.
Erin Ziaja, J.D., M.B.A.Vice President and Counsel Erin works in the Benefits Compliance and Legal Departments where she advises on all aspects of employee benefits compliance. Erin has worked as an attorney with several leading law firms, including Sidley Austin LLP and Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, where she represented multinational corporations and financial institutions in complex commercial litigation. Additionally, she assisted her broker/dealer clientele in matters before the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Prior to attending law school, Erin worked for several years with a consulting firm where she advised Fortune 500 companies on state and local tax matters. She attended the University of Illinois College of Law where she graduated Order of the Coif and served as editor of The Elder Law Journal. She also holds a Master of Business Administration from Dominican University. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar, Texas Bar Association and Austin Bar Association.
Chase Cannon, J.D., LL.M. Vice President and Counsel, Benefits Compliance Chase currently works to help solve employee benefits-related compliance, regulatory and legal issues. Previously, Chase worked as an attorney at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Office of Chief Counsel in Washington, D.C., where he advised IRS agents and attorney litigators and drafted taxpayer guidance, including federal income tax regulations and private letter rulings, on issues relating to health and welfare benefits plans. He also spent two years as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Stephen Swift of the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C. Chase holds a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Utah, a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, and he is a member of the State Bar of Maryland.
Ford Darger, J.D., LL.M. Vice President and Counsel, Benefits Compliance Ford advises on benefits compliance issues, including issues arising under cafeteria plans, COBRA, the Family and Medical Leave Act, ERISA and health care reform. Ford previously was a senior associate at Ernst & Young LLP in New York City where he was a part of the Transaction Tax team and specialized in state and local tax due diligence. Ford holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Utah, a Juris Doctor from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of New York.
Elizabeth Allen, J.D., RPA, GBA Assistant Vice President and Counsel, Benefits Compliance Elizabeth joined our team in June 2014, advising employers and brokers on employee benefits compliance issues. Elizabeth previously spent five years as an investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration. As an investigator, she reviewed health and welfare and pension plans for compliance with ERISA, and worked with employers, service providers and other regulatory agencies to bring employee benefit plans into compliance. She also served as the Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program (VFCP) coordinator from 2012–2014. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts in government from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
K.C. Barner, J.D. Assistant Vice President and Counsel, Benefits Compliance
As part of the Benefits Compliance team, K.C. advises employers and brokers on employee benefits compliance issues. Prior to joining the team, K.C. worked as an insurance regulatory attorney with Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates & Woodyard, P.L.L.C., where he provided legal advice related to insurance company formations, admissions, product filings, and mergers and acquisitions to clients ranging from small start-up companies to multi-national financial service providers. Additionally, he practiced corporate and contract law with a strong focus on legal services related to both life/health and property/casualty insurance regulatory matters. He has also handled various multi-state research projects on insurance, compliance, and corporate governance issues.
K.C. holds a Bachelor of Arts in government from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association and the Austin Bar Association.
Lisa Kottler, Senior Vice President, Retirement Services Lisa brings over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, including service as the VP of Sales for a regional TPA where she sold DC and DB plans directly to plan sponsors, as well as working a 401(k) wholesaler for two large insurance companies. Lisa has a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas – San Antonio. Additionally, she is a Qualified 401k Administrator (QKA) and Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) and holds the Series 7, 63, 65 and 24 registrations with the NASD, as well as a Group 1 license.
Jeff Cheshier, Assistant Vice President, Retirement Services Jeff brings 7 years’ experience in the financial services industry, where he was responsible for broker-dealer relationship management and defined contribution business development for an international mutual fund provider. Jeff earned a BS from the University of Texas – Austin, and an MBA from the University of Texas – San Antonio. Additionally, he holds Series 6 and 63 registrations with the NASD.
Todd Broussard, Vice President, Executive Benefits Sales Todd, who has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, markets COLI, BOLI and executive benefits. He has extensive experience in life insurance brokerage sales and the design and implementation of executive benefit plans, specializing in deferred compensation plans. Previously, Todd spent 10 years with Hartford Life Insurance and Principal Financial Group. Todd began his career at UNUM as a disability sales consultant. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in management from Stephen F. Austin University. Additionally, he holds FINRA Series 6, 63 and 26 licenses as well as a Group 1 insurance license.
Keith Hoffman, Vice President, Disability Keith is a practice leader and subject matter expert for all disability-related products. Keith brings over 19 years of industry experience, including three years as an independent insurance producer. He holds a master’s in communications from Florida State University and an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also a survivor advocate for prostate cancer with the U.S. Department of Defense.
